There are not many AGM’s that are as interesting as Music Shoalhaven’s. In addition to our meeting, we showcase local performers. Our special performer at this AGM is talented young pianist Luke Bowen.  

SYDNEY UNIVERSITY GRADUATE CHOIR

The Sydney University Graduate Choir was established in 1952 as the graduate group or the Sydney University Musical Society (founded in 1878) and today has over 100 singers. The Choir is committed to high-quality performance of great choral music and its extensive versatile and innovative repertoire ranges from the grand works of the established masters to the music of contemporary composers.

PHOENIX COLLECTIVE

Phoenix Collective’s Baroque Trio concert will include quintessential works by master composers such as J.S Bach and Vivaldi as well as works from lesser-known composers Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti and Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (including Biber’s use of scordatura, the technique of altering the normal tuning of a stringed instrument to produce unusual effects and colours).

DUO BLOCKSTIX

Duo Blockstix is a unique and vibrant Australian ensemble featuring recorder player Alicia Crossley and percussionist Joshua Hill.  The duo perform a repertoire spanning 800 years, presenting innovative new works and textural soundscapes alongside traditional masterpieces.

Wollongong's Steel City Strings welcomes back violinist Anna da Silva Chen playing Beethoven’s Violin concerto, with an augmented orchestra including brass, woodwinds and percussion.

Eleanor Betts, Lucy Warren and Michael Curtain perform as an intimate chamber group. They have been widely praised for their innovative programs which typically feature the great masterpieces of the Classical, Romantic and Twentieth Century chamber music repertoire.
