Be transported as Helena’s heart-wrenching playing leads us through a variety of techniques and moods, from quiet introspective to dazzlingly joyful.

Halina Leung began her music studies at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music. She attained her AMEB Licentiate Diploma in piano at the age of fifteen, eighth grade in oboe with distinction at fourteen and Associate Diplomas in both piano and recorder at thirteen. In 2014, Halina was awarded her Graduate Diploma of Music in Classical Piano Performance at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, obtaining a High Distinction average. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Music Performance (Classical Piano) at the University of New South Wales.

 

Since winning her first music competition at age six, Halina has been awarded music scholarships every year (1998-2015) from music institutions and organisations. She has successfully won over two hundred first prizes in national and international piano competitions.

 

Halina has performed around Australia as well as in New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, Italy, France, United Kingdom and America as a recitalist, soloist with orchestras, a chamber musician and an accompanist. Her performance of Chaconne by Sofia Gubaidulina was recorded for the Best of Australian Institute of Music and her piano recitals have also been broadcasted live on 2MBS Fine Music Classic FM.

 

Halina’s piano repertoire encompasses works from the Renaissance period to the 21st Century. Halina is well known to Shoalhaven audiences having won the Piano Championship at the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod many times.
